Neurokinetix: A Neurological Recovery Center

How could the holy grail of neurological rehab and recovery be in my own backyard? A hidden gem tucked away in west Fort Worth. Upon its discovery, I was amazed at the vast services they provide under one roof: Physical therapy, robotic therapy, aquatic therapy, neuro rehab VR, and HBOT (hyperbaric oxygen therapy). It was everything I ever wished for in an exercise facility. I couldn’t have hand picked them better myself. If ever there was an exercise utopia, Neurokinetix was my mecca!

This phenomenal, high tech, cutting-edge facility was built by Bruce (a Fort Worth developer) and Lee Anne Conti for their son, Spencer, out of tragedy and love. Through the sole purpose of helping their son, they have ended up helping countless of others.

My hope was that CMT would fall under the Neurokinetix acceptance parameters. Over 50 years with a neurological disease, broken hip at the age of 12, and the dislocation of my SI joint (tailbone) in 2010, my body needed more help then just exercising twice a week with a trainer. Hard to believe. that this might be my first experience with any physical rehab. It blows my mind that even after breaking my hip back in 1981, the doctors told my parents that I would give myself my own exercise so therapy would not be necessary. Never comprehending the high toll i’d be paying 50 years down the road.

My heart felt confident that Nwurokinetix was the right place for me, especially after talking to their Mesical Director and Lead Physician, Dr. Brian Wood. He was familiar and knowledgeable regarding CMT disease, and had found success using hyperbaric oxygen chambers combined with physical therapy to treat it. After a brief phone conversation, his closing words still resonate through my mind. “Keep the faith and stay hopeful”. Words I had never before heard from any medical doctor. I hung up the phone and cried. I had to get to Fort Worth!… all in strides of faith!
